One weekend last month I found myself bawling my eyes out as I judged the IPA One Shot photo contest. I had to have serious time out to regain my composure. All up I, and I presume all the other jurors, judged at least 599 entries (yes, I counted them) depicting ‘Our times- Pandemic Perspectives’.
Last night, after an amazing day where I proudly joined the first Women’s March on Washington in Auckland, we had a severe storm and lost power. I was recently asked by an emerging photographer if there was any hope of her ever getting work as a commercial photographer. She had discovered that it was a male dominated world made up of mostly male photographers working with mostly male creatives. She wondered why; did I know?And was the effort even worth it?
I am privileged to have recently been a judge of the IPA Lucie awards. The quality of the work this year was outstanding, particularly in the editorial categories.
