Are you floundering?

30 October, 2023

In my recent conversations with photographers I am noticing a sense of floundering. Not knowing quite how to pick up again after the last few years.

You may be in that boat.

  • Perhaps you quit your agent or production house, or they closed down.
  • Maybe they’re just not getting you the work any more.
  • You could be trying to find an agent, or wondering if it’s necessary, or if you’re ready.
  • Or work may have simply dried up and you’re trying to figure out where to start again.

One thing I do know is that if you are floundering, it will reflect in everything you do, and in every interaction you have.

In fact, if you are floundering, chances are your agent will be too.

Floundering = directionless.

When you’re feeling this way it’s crucial to go back to basics.

Simple steps you can take to remind yourself that you are good at your job.

You are capable, skilled and talented.

Go back to who you are, and why you are doing this, and allow that to guide your strategy for who you target and how.

Give yourself some time to stop, breathe and get back the clarity and direction that you’re possibly missing right now.

Wishing you a focused, reinvigorated week.
