What’s your brand of crazy?

I was recently helping an art buyer find some photographers for a large global brand.

“Everyone in that city looks the same” she said, sighing. “No one has a point of difference.”

I’ve been meeting lots with photographers from specific cities in the world (word of mouth is a powerful thing apparently) and I’ve noticed this pattern happening.

Every website I go to in each region has similar work.

No one stands for anything.

I asked one of those photographers about it last week.

‘The creatives want crazy but we always end up shooting something more boring’ she said.

Did you read that? They WANT crazy.

So why not show them crazy?

Honestly if you do that, you may still end up shooting boring work but at least you would have been inspiring enough to be the one who was chosen.

And we all know that if you start with boring it can only go downhill from there.

This week take a look around and think about how you can stand out from the crowd. There’s never been a more important time to differentiate yourself.
