Since I was last in touch the Brits have voted to leave Europe, the President Elect in the USA is now Donald Trump, and New Zealand has had its biggest quake in the last hundred years.
In spite of this, I have found so much to be grateful for. And one of these things is that I’ve been reminded that the world will never stand still (physically or politically) and neither should we.
As a photographer, you know you have to adapt to the constant changing world around you.
I don’t mean you have to back down in any way. Of course not! You should always stand up for what you believe in, and hold onto the passion in your work.
-If you love shooting on film, keep doing it.
-If you want to create conceptual art it’s totally possible.
-If you want to help change the world through your photography go for it. I know you can do it.
However if you think you have to separate your passion from your paid work…. I challenge you to think differently. You can choose the clients you work with. People who appreciate your approach and will pay you for it (and yes- they are out there).
Then you have to WAKE UP to what’s happening in technology, in communication, and in the minds and heads of those dream clients, and target them in their language. That’s where adaptation comes in.
In the next few days I’ll be showing you how you can do this.
In the meantime, I’m finding so much more to be grateful for, in spite of recent events. I challenge you to do the same.
Happy Thanksgiving and Chin up!
