Asia beckons emerging NZ photographers

26 April, 2016

International photographer, Robert Earp and prominent photo consultant, Christina Force, CA+ co-chairs, are giving photographers the rare opportunity to meet face-to-face with some of Asia’s most respected creative professionals who will review their work.

Auckland-based Australasian photo consultant Christina Force will co-chair Creative Asia Plus (CA+) in Hong Kong in November – a two-day event for photographers who want to crack the Asian market.

CA+ is a portfolio review and networking programme for professional and emerging photographers wanting to break into the lucrative Asian market. Event organisers Robert Earp and Christina Force have brought together an impressive list of creative professionals from all over Asia to participate as folio reviewers.

Folio reviewers at CA+ include Martin Lever (ECD BBDO Hong Kong), Richard Hollingum (APAC Lead, Sapient Nitro Singapore), Gary Steele (CD, TBWA Singapore), Sham Nasaar (Head of Art, Redworks/Ogilvy Singapore), Brian Ma (ECD, Leo Burnett Hong Kong), and Sebastian Chan (Agent, Shooting Gallery Asia).

A busy photo consultant and public speaker, Force has helped launch the careers of many Australasian photographers through her workshops and one-on-one mentoring.

“As an agent working extensively throughout Asia, I invested a lot of resources sourcing and meeting with potential clients in the region,” Force says. “Had the opportunity existed before to show folios to so many agencies around Asia under one roof, I would have been in like a shot.

“I am thrilled that through CA+ I am helping make this a reality for photographers and agents in Asia.”

Australian Robert Earp is an international award-winning photographer with more than 20 years of experience capturing a full spectrum of people, products and places.

“Getting your portfolio in front of agents, creative directors and editors can be tough,” Earp says. “And trying to crack the Asian market can be almost impossible without the right connections. I wish there had been something like CA+ when I was a young photographer.

“So many doors opened for me after attending New York’s FotoWorks a few years ago; I learned so much. So I wanted to give other photographers and creatives alike the same opportunity.”

CA+ will give those wanting to crack the Asian market the rare opportunity to meet face-to-face with some of Asia’s most respected creative professionals. Meetings are 15 minutes in duration and can be purchased in packages of 10 or 15 meetings. Reviewers will give participants valuable feedback and information about the nuances of working in Asia, how to get attention in Asia’s competitive market, and most importantly, how to work in Asia in the future.

Together with CONNECTIONS, a “relaxed and fun networking event”, the organisers say CA+ is the first professional development programme of its kind in Asia.
